What is Figma?
Learn about the online design software we use to create Aggie UX page mockups.

Figma is an industry-standard collaborative online design software ideal for web and application design. We use Figma to design Aggie UX components and create page mockups.
Using Figma allows us to provide easy access to our design system by publishing our library as a community file. This means you can make a copy of our community file and make your own mockups that are only visible to you and anyone you share it with.
Free vs. Paid Access to Our Library
We regularly publish updates to our Figma library as we make new components or address bugs in our file.
If you use a free Figma account, you will make a copy of our Aggie UX library at a certain point in time. Free accounts have a file limit (3) and do not allow files to connect to external libraries. In order to use our library, you will download the file and make your mockups within it. This means you will not be able to receive updates with new components or bug fixes when we publish them to your existing mockups.
If you pay for a Figma subscription, you can connect to our Aggie UX library and receive updates when we publish a new version. Paying for an account allows you to make your own mockups outside of our community file and connect to our library. This lets you receive updates instead of having to recreate mockups to receive new components or bug fixes.

Additional Training
If you are brand new to Figma, consider taking their Figma Design for Beginners hands-on course. This course covers the fundamentals of designing in Figma from scratch — meaning you will learn how to make your own components. Understanding how to make components in Figma may be beneficial if your team is considering building additional features and functionality on top of Aggie UX.
