Drafts and working copies are two ways to work on modifying pages before submitting them to the system, where it could be published before you are ready to.

Private Drafts

When you edit an asset, Cascade automatically saves a draft of your changes. Drafts can’t be shared or seen by other users. Drafts allow you to:

  • Preview your changes before submitting them to the system
  • Make multiple changes to an asset before submitting changes

Sharable Working Copies (Check Out / Lock Pages)

If you need to show your work to another person, such as your supervisor, you will need to check out the asset. This locks the asset from being changed by another person while it is checked out to you and creates a working copy. Working copies allow you to:

  • Show your changes to an asset to another person without overwriting the current version
  • Prevent another person from editing the asset and overwriting your work
  • Transfer the lock and working copy ownership to another user with write access
  • Work on a new version of a page without it being published

Once you have created a working copy, you can either discard your changes by breaking the lock or finalize and submit your changes by committing changes.
